What Young has to say:

Week 1 – About the league

“I believe that this league has the organization, structure, and character to be a successful league for years to come. I am glad to be a part of such a high quality group.”

Week 2 – On the games

“In game 1 Yaedons domination of the boards left the blue team bewildered, but it was Burnette’s block over the fence that sent Bertino and company packing prematurely.”

“Game 2 it was Faders free throw ferocity that powered yellow past black, but will black’s post game practice of the triangle offense pay off next week?”

Week 3 - Bermuda....Bahama...

Young was unable to comment as he was found floating in the beautiful waters of the Bahamas in his bright yellow speedo with a pina colada in one hand, a whistle in his mouth still calling fouls. We hope he makes it back safe so he can continue to referee the league as we all found out refereeing may look easy, but it is no walk in the park.

Week 4 - On playing, coaching and teaching players in the summer league....

"I'm very proud to ref in a league consisting of players I played with, coached and even taught. The Whitman-Hanson basketball program has always meant a great deal to me and during my 8 years with the program I was lucky to play with and coach some great players. To see so many of those players return and play at such a high level is a testament to the hard work and dedication that we all put into making Whitman-Hanson basketball a successful program. We will always be connected by our hard-work and passion for the game of basketball."

Week 5 - On what it takes to be a ref and how hard the job is...

"Reffing is not an easy job, especially when there is only one ref. You are never going to be able to see everything, but I always put myself in the best possibly position to make the right call. Every game is different and as a ref you have to find the right balance between keeping the game fair and keeping the game moving."

Week 6 - "Have you ever thought of wagering on a game that you were reffing?"

"I have never thought of wagering on a game that I reffed, but I am open to placing side bets about things. Such as the number of half court shots Brazer takes during warm-ups or the number of beverages McGonagle consumes during the two games. Any takers?"

Week 7 - On celebrating the 4th of July...

"The 4th of July is one of the best days of the year. Nothing celebrates the history of our country like barbeque's, beers and explosives."

Week 8 - On handing out the first technical in this years summer league...

"Every ref has there limit in terms of talking and complaining from players. I reached my limit that day and it resulted in a technical. Im not he kind of ref who enjoys giving technicals or looks for chances to give technicals, but i reached my breaking point that day."

Week 9 - On Team Blues late struggles...

"Blue has a good squad and they need to keep their heads up and keep working hard. It's the teams that overcome adversity and work together that makes dangerous match-ups in the playoffs."

Week 10 - On the 1st Inaugural Whitman-Hanson Summer League regular season...

"The first Whitman-Hanson summer league season was a great success, the competition was very good almost every game and it really will be anyone's championship to win in the playoffs."

PLAYOFFS...

" I know RED is the number one seed heading into playoffs, but you cant count anyone out. We will just have to see which team wants it more."
