 T.J.'s Camper of the Week

Week #4's Camper of the Week:

Joshua Kameese

Height: 6'5"          Weight: 235 lbs          Position: Center          Basketball IQ: 132

Recently, Josh and I sat down for a nice game of basketball in my dinning room. After the game we sat down and had a talk about him being honored with the T.J.'s Camper of the Week for week four.

Josh, you're captain of the undefeated Red Team. You also coached a lot of the players on the Red team when they were in high school. Explain your draft strategy and if coaching these players helped you out in making your draft choices

Well first of all T.J. I want to say that I'm a scary judge of talent to begin with. My strategy was pretty much to build a team that a defense couldn't pack it in against without getting sniped by 3 point assassins. At the same time if a team keyed on taking away the perimeter I wanted a strong inside presence to take over the game. We just make it really hard for another team to say “alright we are going to take away AMac or Lance or Yeadon and let everyone else get theirs.” If that's the case then they are saying they can live with Noel, Burnett, Razorbone, Myself and whoever else decides to show up for the day and reach double figures. And let’s be serious no one is keeping Lance, Yeadon, or Amac from scoring anyways. They can get 10 with their eyes closed. I just wanted a balanced team with other players who hate losing as much as I do.

You’re a male nurse...didn't wanna go all the way for the M.D.?

Took me long enough to become a nurse, I'd probably be 50 before I was a doctor, next question.

Does that make you the most qualified to perform first aide at the games? And could you handle that type of pressure?

Come on T.J., you know me I thrive under pressure. But in all honesty? Not a chance. I'd definitely leave that up to yellow team members Bryan Smith and Matt Edwards, they're paramedics and are trained for first aide. BUT...I could recommend some great naturally organic medication. Anyways, unless they were on Red team I don't think I'd be in that big of a rush to be the hero. We'd probably be too busy winning anyway.

Team Red is the only team to have not had every member show up to at least one game. Does this affect how you guys play together? Also talk about your absence every other week and if that effects your authority as captain.

Well first of all I'd like to officially announce that next Sunday will be the last game that I will have to miss, playoffs or regular season, for the rest of the summer.  But I don't think missing these three games really has affected my "authority."  When you have a team that clicks the way Red does you don't need someone to be barking out orders. We just go out and do our thing…well except for Josh Burnett…he's a cocky asshole who never shuts up kind of like a young Rondo.  Maybe I'll have Razorbone work him over one Sunday before a game.  But I joke T.J., no I don't feel that not having our whole squad has really affected us.  When building the team one of the biggest things that I was looking for to go along with balance was basketball IQ and I feel we have that 1-8.  You could put anyone of our guys on the floor with 4 random guys who know the game and they would be just fine.  Basketball isn't a game of just skill it takes a lot of on the court intelligence as well. Its all about chemistry Teeeej.

What kind of music do you listen to before games to get pumped up?

Mostly hip-hop but the one main stay is always the classic NBA on NBC "da da da da DA, da da dada da da da DA" now if that shit doesn't fire you up then you have no soul or you could just be below the age of 22 which is probably half the players in the league.

I think you just created a huge generational gap in the league. Last question, Team Red and Team Blue have a huge rematch coming up on Sunday. However Team Red will not have you or AMac and team Blue will not have Hatfield. What is your prediction for this week’s game and do these absences affect your prediction?

Well I have a lot of respect for Blue Team, I've played with Mike Craven my whole life, I’ve played with you for years, have known Timmy Farrell and TJ Champignie and their game for years, and I really respect Nate Nuby's athleticism.  Having said all that I feel Hatfield is the glue that holds the Blue Team together.  A-Mac is a huge part of our squad but we will still have Josh "Killer B" Burnett to work anyone on the defensive end and to bring the ball up, Kyle "Don't you dare call me soft this summer" Yeadon to beast down low and stroke that 3 ball when needed, Lance "the Prodigy" Saletnick to outwork everyone on the court, Noel "Lebron" James to show Nuby what real athleticism looks like.  And everyone else that makes up Red team. My prediction…final score…Red-64 Blue-51...Thank you T.J. for this great honor and I only wish I was going to be there next week to drop another 14 on you.  GET RED!!
